Win An iPad 2! Avocados From Mexico Guacamole Recipe Contest

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Avocados from Mexico for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.
So get in your kitchen with your star players, Avocados from Mexico, and make some guacamole magic.  Then make sure to take a pic of your guacamole (before the family devours it) and share it and your recipe at Avocados from Mexico Guac Off Recipe Contest.  Now just by doing that, you will be entered into the bonus sweepstake for the $100 grocery gift card, with 10 winners.  Then it will be up to the judges to pick 10 finalist to be featured on their Facebook page.  The three categories for  grand prize winners are Most popular, Best Recipe, and Most Creative.  These three will receive the  iPad 2 and autographed cookbook!  Most popular will be determined by Facebook votes, so make sure to share your recipe with friends, coworkers,  and family.  Most creative will be determined by Avocados from Mexico judges, and best Recipe will be selected by Roberto Santibanez himself.
So don't wait, make sure to visit the Avocados from Mexico on Facebook now and through January 15th.  The contest will end on January 20th, 2012.  Here is my recipe entry for my Zesty Bacon Guacamole:

  • Prep time: 8 minutes
  • Cook time: 2 minutes
  • Total time: 10 minutes|
  • Servings: 8
  • 4 Avocados from Mexico
  • 8 ounce(s) of Philadelphia Chive and Onion Cream Cheese
  • 1/4 cup(s) of Kraft Sandwich Shop Chipotle Flavored Reduced Fat Mayo
  • 1 Lime
  • 1 tsp of Hot Sauce, more or less to taste
  • 13 ounce(s) or 1 Large bag of Tortilla Chips
  • 3 Slices of Fully Cooked Crispy Bacon, crumbled
  • 1 cup(s) of Grape Tomatoes, sliced into quarters
  • 1/4 cup(s) of Kraft Shredded Sharp Cheddar Cheese
  • 3 tbs of Chopped Fresh Cilantro
Steps
  1. I placed fully cooked bacon in microwave for 2 minutes, following package directions for getting it extra crispy. Chop with a knife, or crumble with hands when it is cool to the touch, and set aside.
  2. In a large mixing bowl add your avocado, cream cheese, hot sauce, juice of one lime, and mayo. Mash and stir to combine ingredients. Salt and pepper to taste. Place in serving dish.
  3. Top with crumbled bacon, quarter sliced tomatoes, cheddar cheese, and some fresh chopped cilantro. Serve with tortilla chips on the side.

Your Mini Chef Could Win a $1,000 Cash Prize, Camcorder, Nitendo and More!

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Avocados from Mexico for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.
New Message
Wow talk about a wonderful prize package, for one grand prize wining Mini Chef.  One lucky kiddo, could walk away with a in $1,000 cash, an HD camcorder, a Nintendo 3D, 2 games, and a personalized mini chef jacket!!! There will be 9 runners up prizes too, so several kids will be walking away with a new camcorder, Nintendo, and jacket.
The Mini Chef Video Contest is hosted by Avocados from Mexico, and is running right now, for parents with children ages 5-15.  You have until Dec. 4th to get your 1-3 minute videos in. You will want to prepare a kid friendly avocado recipe. In the video you will want to have your child/children share why they love avocados, and the catchy Avocados from Mexico jingle found on their website.   Once you have submitted your recipe to Mini Chef Video Contest, check back on Dec. 6th to see if you have made it into the top 10. Public voting will take place Dec. 6-11 on YouTube. The video with the most likes wins the grand prize, but all top 10 finalists will be walking away with those fabulous prizes mentioned above.  Judges will be looking at personality and presence of avocados in the video.
What a great contest.  I love avocados, and the best part is they are so good for you. They are packed full of vitamins and nutrients essential for child development and growth.  As a hypoglycemic, my doctor encourages me to eat avocado daily.  Just 3 slices of this creamy green fruit (yes I checked it's a fruit), packs potassium, fiber, folate, vitamin C, E, and B-Complex vitamins, that support memory and brain function (sounds like it's a good thing I love them).  If your kids don't enjoy them already, then maybe this video contest can be a fun way to get them excited about this amazing fruit.

To get your juices flowing, here is my recipe for a  Fiesta Philly Guacamole, and yes it has bacon in it too.

Of course avocados are so much more then guacamole.  I can't wait to see all of your creative recipes for them. Please if you enter the contest, leave us a link below in a comment, so we can check out your kid(s) video, and if they make it to the top ten, vote to help them win!  Good Luck and get cooking.
