Why Choose Platinum When Buying Wedding Bands
Posted by

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Platinum Guild International USA for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.
My husband and I both chose precious platinum when we purchased our wedding bands years ago. Just like we want our marriage to stand the test of time, we want our wedding rings to do the same. When we bought our bands, we had to pay more for platinum, but now that is not always the case. Since the price of gold has sky rocketed over the years, for the first time in recent history, the price per an ounce of gold is actually more then platinum! It makes sense then to purchase beautiful platinum, that will look and hold up better then gold, when making such an important purchase as a wedding band.
Now this does not mean that the retail price of platinum will be less then gold, only that platinum's premium is less, and because it's more pure and dense then gold, it is a better value for it's cost. Which is why we chose to purchase platinum years ago. My husband and I are both very hard on our hands. I would never want my husband wearing a soft gold ring to tackle some of the daily chores he does. It would scratch and thin over the years, and eventfully need to be re-shanked. Platinum bands actually get stronger as you wear them because it doesn't scratch off, it only displaces when put through wear and tear, making it become more dense and strong. It also doesn't have to be re-dipped like white gold does to maintain it's color. Most actors and models walking the red carpet choose platinum because it really provides a perfect setting for your diamonds and gem stones to shine.
If my husband were to ever make another significant purchase in jewelry for me, say maybe a mother's ring, I would want him to choose platinum again. What about you, did you know that platinum had all these benefits over yellow or white gold?

Tips for Bloggers

In Jennifer Lopez's defense I don't think that is her real but, if it is, you go girl! Sorry for the silly pic, I always like to have at least one picture in my post, I had nothing for what follows, so I created this fun graphic on Picnik.
I received an email letter recently from the lovely Rose at A Rosie Sweet Home. She had a few questions about blogging. She is not alone, I receive requests for tips on blogging often (not sure why, I am by no means an expert) but I have learned some things along the way. So I thought I would answer the questions she had for me in a post, so that others can benefit. Seriously I had no clue what I was doing when I first started blogging. However there are a few things I know now that I wish I had known when I started out. My blog grew very slowly the first 6 months or so of blogging because like I said, I was clueless. Let's see what I have learned along the way. Below are Roses great questions and my answers:
Updated Pinterest Terms and Celebration Pinterest Linky

Good news, Pinterest is updating their terms as of April 6, 2012. I think everyone will be happier with the new terms. Many folks were worried by using Pinterest they could be opening up a can of worms and chances of legal issues. Now I am no lawyer but from what I understand with the old terms, folks were concerned that Pinterest would and could sell their pictures pinned, and in turn if the picture you pinned wasn't yours, then you could be sued for copyright infringement.
Here is a quick look at what the new terms will mean for us pin heads:
The new terms state that Pinterest will not sell your pictures!
They will not allow pics that encourage self- harm or self-abuse.
These new terms are also paving the way to having private pin boards!
The information above was sent to me in an email from Ben and the Pinterest team.
I thought it would be fun to celebrate this good news with a surprise Pinterest linky .

After making 14 or more of these miniature whisks, experimenting with different wire gauge, and different methods of making them (glue, no glue, two pieces of wire, one, etc) I came up with a tutorial for what I feel is the easiest and prettiest way to make them. Would you like to know how?

So I think I need a little more practice wire wrapping these miniature whisks, but what do you think. They look rustic, like my favorite whisks that have been handed down to me. Should I start making them for the shop, do you want to see a tutorial at Bacon Time for them? Let me know in a comment below.
