Taste Testing Carapelli Olive Oil

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Carapelli for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.
If you know me, or have read my blog, then you know I am the "Hungry Hungry Hypo".  So I was thrilled when asked to write a review, and perform a taste test, for Carapelli Olive Oil.
001950 CarapelliTastingProgram_9_28_11.pdf-1
Did you know that Carapelli's headquarters are right outside of the beautiful city of Florence, so it should come as know surprise that they have been producing the best olive oil since 1893.  They reign as Italy's No. 1 extra virgin olive oil.  As a leader in olive oil, Carapelli has instituted a quality certification program that far exceeds standards in Europe and the United States.  They do this, because they want to bring us all the best olive oil possible.  Their Master Tasters bring us 3 varieties of premium olive oil, made from the finest Mediterranean olive groves.  Those three varieties include, Premium 100% Italian, II Numerato, and Organic.
The Organic brand is certified USDA organic. II Numerato is described as extremely smooth, with low acidity, a result of a delicate cold pressing of olives. Premium 100% Italian is described as having a robust taste and aroma.  Today I will be sharing my taste test for II Numerato.
When performing a taste test of olive oil, there are certain rules you want to stick with, just as you would at a wine tasting.  Just remember the "Four S's":
1. Swirl- This will help release the aromas of the oil.
2. Sniff- Now inhale deeply, the aroma is the key to the fruitiness of the oil.
3. Slurp- Yes sip the oil while you sip in a bit of air too, this "slurping" action will spread the oil through your mouth.  Take note of the various taste and sensations.
4. Swallow- The good oil, should leave your mouth with no aftertaste.
Now for my taste test results for II Numerato, using the "Four S's".  Before swirling, their was not much aroma. After swirling, a  very light delicate aroma was present, sort of like a faint sweet flower smell when I sniffed deeply. When I slurped, the oil, it tasted very smooth, and when I swallowed I was left with no aftertaste.  It was very good.  After tasting, I knew I could enjoy it so many ways.  As a dip for breads, drizzled over pasta, or ripe veggies.  The flavor was mild, so it would work well with so many things.
I hope you will all try this fine oil for yourself.  Here is a $1.00 OFF coupon at www.CarapelliUSA.com to use on your next purchase.

What I Have Been Wearing and Hair Color Advice Needed

That title should read "What I Have Been Wearing  Making".  I did manage to get out of my robe, but not as much as I would have liked this last week.  I got dressed up for a girls night out, for drinks and a movie.  Of course we saw Breaking Dawn.  I loved it.  Yes, I wanted more from the love scene, but what can I say, I admit it, I am a dirty girl.  Other then that, I dressed pretty low key this week, since I have been busy working on contacting sponsors for our Breaking Dawn giveaway event we had last week.  I have also been busy making some new pretties for my shop TLC Creations, just in time for Winter.  Check out some of the new lovely editions.

Avocado Grinch and GuacamoleTree Dip

My son decided he really wanted to enter the cooking contest I shared with you all last week, sponsored by Avocados from Mexico.  Check out that post here for more info on the contest.
We had a lot of fun with our avocados, and came up with a cool holiday inspired guacamole tree and Grinch.  If you would like to try this kid friendly recipe, then check out my son's wonderful 3 minute video below sharing his recipe for the tree. The Grinch is made out of an avocado, (peal for the Grinch's collar), tomato, yellow bell pepper, celery leaves, and black olives.
When you watch the recipe video, he would love for you to give him a "like" on YouTube, to help him win.
Thanks and Happy Holidays!

Breaking Dawn Giveaway Winners !!!! (All 66 of Them)

Well I didn't think I would ever finish drawing the random winners using Random.org.  I started working on it last night and woke up extra early to finish (who loves ya babe?).  Drawing the numbers was the easy part.  The hard part was then checking to see if folks follow with GFC publicly
(btw many folks lost out because they don't, and I stated in the giveaway post that you need to) .
Then of course silly blogger won't let you see more then 200 comments at a time, so with 1672 entries, I was going back and forth a lot.  I did my absolute best to keep it as fair as possible.  If the comment you won on was for a prize that was already taken, I tried to give you the next item you entered for (if possible).  Like I said. I would not disqualify you from winning more then once, and as you can see several folks were very lucky.

To keep this as short and sweet as possible, I am simply listing the Giveaway # below, and the person that won.  If you had a very common GFC account name, I tried to add the name of your blog or part of your email address, so that there would be know question of who won.
Here is the link to the giveaway post, because I know you will all want to refer to it, to see what you won.
Original Giveaway Post

Congratulations to you all.  Please leave a comment below if you won, and contact me via email at mhilton05@yahoo.com to claim your prizes.  I will be taking the rest of the day off, because if I sit for another straight 8 hours (yes it's been 8 hours) my back will never forgive me. I will start checking my emails on Monday and start forwarding your email address to the the sponsors.

Don't forget, Cyber Monday to check out my shop TLC Creations for some amazing deals.

Fantastic Features and Giving Thanks

Photobucket

This week I want to start by giving everyone that reads and participates at Bacon Time a huge
THANK YOU!  I have many things to be thankful for, my family, two healthy boys, a loving husband, good food, and a roof over our heads, (that hasn't always been the case).  Yes there were times we were broke, struggling, and down right in need of support from our families.  Through it all we remembered to be thankful for the things that really matter, family and friends. With that being said, and forgive your bacon Mama for getting sentimental, know that I am thankful to have the opportunity to share my passions in life with you, and even more thankful that you visit Bacon Time.  I wish you all a very safe and a HAPPY Thanksgiving.

Now onto some fantastic features from last weeks linky party.

Stubbornly Crafty shared this Turkey Pillow (applique) Tutorial. Such a cute Fall accessory.

Your Mini Chef Could Win a $1,000 Cash Prize, Camcorder, Nitendo and More!

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Avocados from Mexico for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.
New Message
Wow talk about a wonderful prize package, for one grand prize wining Mini Chef.  One lucky kiddo, could walk away with a in $1,000 cash, an HD camcorder, a Nintendo 3D, 2 games, and a personalized mini chef jacket!!! There will be 9 runners up prizes too, so several kids will be walking away with a new camcorder, Nintendo, and jacket.
The Mini Chef Video Contest is hosted by Avocados from Mexico, and is running right now, for parents with children ages 5-15.  You have until Dec. 4th to get your 1-3 minute videos in. You will want to prepare a kid friendly avocado recipe. In the video you will want to have your child/children share why they love avocados, and the catchy Avocados from Mexico jingle found on their website.   Once you have submitted your recipe to Mini Chef Video Contest, check back on Dec. 6th to see if you have made it into the top 10. Public voting will take place Dec. 6-11 on YouTube. The video with the most likes wins the grand prize, but all top 10 finalists will be walking away with those fabulous prizes mentioned above.  Judges will be looking at personality and presence of avocados in the video.
What a great contest.  I love avocados, and the best part is they are so good for you. They are packed full of vitamins and nutrients essential for child development and growth.  As a hypoglycemic, my doctor encourages me to eat avocado daily.  Just 3 slices of this creamy green fruit (yes I checked it's a fruit), packs potassium, fiber, folate, vitamin C, E, and B-Complex vitamins, that support memory and brain function (sounds like it's a good thing I love them).  If your kids don't enjoy them already, then maybe this video contest can be a fun way to get them excited about this amazing fruit.

To get your juices flowing, here is my recipe for a  Fiesta Philly Guacamole, and yes it has bacon in it too.
http://bacontimewiththehungryhypo.blogspot.com/2011/05/happy-cinco-de-mayo-with-my-zesty.html
Of course avocados are so much more then guacamole.  I can't wait to see all of your creative recipes for them. Please if you enter the contest, leave us a link below in a comment, so we can check out your kid(s) video, and if they make it to the top ten, vote to help them win!  Good Luck and get cooking.

I Was Hacked! Internet Security Needed

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Norton Small Business by Symantec for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.
This past Summer I was hacked!  I woke up to find that everyone of my emails, and contact information, was completely swiped off of my email account.  I also found several messages coming in on my Facebook account from friends asking why I was stranded and needed money.  Thankfully they were all smart enough to realize that I had been hacked.  It was a sickening feeling, knowing that friends,  family, and associates were receiving spam mail from my email address.  It was unnerving wondering what accounts I should change passwords on, wondering what emails had been read by these crooks. All together it was one big time consuming headache. What's even more frustrating, is knowing that I could have protected myself better from Internet fraud.
NortonLogo_white.jpg
In our modern society, it is safe to say that technology is the backbone of todays small and large businesses.  With that being said, it is so important to protect yourself , your family, and friends, against Internet fraud.  Norton Small Business by Symantec is proven reliable security for your small business or home office, and you can get 30% off Norton Small Business Products now!
New Message-494
Nearly 1 out of 3 small business owners admitted technology is a major priority. Did you know that  almost 6 out of 10 small business owners admitted having  internet security issues, having malicious software on their computers, in the past three years.   Half of those people, had to pay an expert to solve the problem.  It's no question, as a small business owner you need Internet Security, so that you can protect your cyber identity.  You can help protect yourself with the new Norton 360 and Norton Internet Security 2012 that just launched this last September, for more details head here  http://smallbusiness.norton.com/norton-360.html. Affordable Quality Eye Glasses

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Zenni Optical for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.
I have never shared on my blog, the story of how my husband and I met.  We actually met while I was in college and working as an optician for an optical company.  A job promotion and transfer, brought Jerry to my store, and it was love at first site. I know that sounds super cheesy, since at the time we were both working in optics, but it's the truth.  So eye glasses have always had a special place in my heart.  I believe they can really be a nice accessory to wear, and not something you have to feel uncomfortable in.  I can personally vouch for the high mark up in retail stores on eyewear, to cover retail overhead and advertising.  That's why it's nice to know there is an affordable choice with Zenni Optical and their cheap eyeglasses.
So why should you check out their eyeglasses, well first of all, they have a wide selection, so you can find just what you are looking for.  Yes their glasses are "cheap" but that doesn't mean they lack in quality.  They simply cut out the middlemen, retail overhead, and high priced advertising fees, to bring you their own factory line of ZENNI. Using the latest modern materials, manufacturing, and marketing systems, the Zenni line is created and brought to you at affordable prices ($6-$46), in single vision, bifocal, and progressive eyewear.
Eyeglasses are definitely a personal fashion statement, and Zenni keeps that in mind with a nice selection to choose from.  Zenni optical also realizes that glasses are not just for fashion but a necessity for many, and that's why they pride themselves on bringing you durability, quality, comfort, and safety with their line of eyewear.
So what will you do with all that money you saved, by shopping with Zenni Optical for your eyewear needs?  With the holiday season upon us, I can think of a hundred different things I could use that money on, like  purchasing my youngest sons first bike for Christmas.  In today's economy of high unemployment rates and budget cuts, we could all stand to save some money.  I know with a husband in law enforcement, we have been feeling the pain of budget cuts for over the last four years.  How nice it is to know I can find just what I am looking for, and at a fraction of the price I thought I would have to spend.
 237617 Plastic Full-Rim Frame
I had a hard time picking a favorite pair, since they had several that I loved,  but these really caught my eye. I love the purple frame with my green eyes. So what's your favorite pair of glasses from their selection of cheap eyeglasses.  Let me know in a comment below.

Are You The Gravy Master?

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of GravyMaster for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.
My husband would like to say that he is the "gravy master", although he will admit I do the vast majority of cooking in our home.  Now I am not a trained chef, but I have won a couple of awards for my cooking, I  have had a recipe published, and even received Paula Deens praise a time or two, so I feel capable of making recommendations when it comes to cooking.  As a busy mom, with limited time to prepare home cooked meals, I appreciate when I find a product that can bring restaurant quality food to my table in minutes.
GM_Bottle.jpg
Now with the holidays upon us, even those that don't cook all that often, will find themselves venturing into their kitchens.  Why not have a little help in the kitchen with GravyMaster. You may think that GravyMaster is only for gravy, however it is very versatile. It can be used to caramelize your food, as well as help lock in flavors and juices when grilling meats, fish, and veggies.  With GravyMaster anyone can Master the meal.  GravyMaster is a product you will want to have on hand all through the year.  Try caramelizing your veggies with GravyMaster, and watch those picky eaters enjoy a nutritious meal.  It is also a wonderful addition to sauces, marinades, and reduction sauces. It can help you prepare tasty and juicy food, with ease. GravyMaster.
Why not give GravyMaster a try this holiday season, when everyone is expecting something a little extra special and flavorful to be brought to the table. You will find so many uses for this product, and so many ideas to get you started here at Master the meal. I can't wait to try these Stuffed Mushrooms, found here http://gravy.com/gmRecipe.aspx?rID=19. I bet my family would just love this Holiday Ham recipe, found here http://gravy.com/gmRecipe.aspx?rID=2.  Check out all the wonderful free recipes GravyMaster has to offer, then let me know what has you salivating, and what recipes you will try this holiday season.

Mommy I Got A Boo-Boo!

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of New-Skin for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.
Being a mom, with two energetic accident prone boys, I hear a lot of complaints about boo-boos.  My husband, seems to be just as prone to them, with his active lifestyle, of law enforcement, fishing, and hunting.  In fact, last week my husband was very sick.  Our doctor wouldn't let him work for almost a week, after diagnosing him with an infection from what we suspect was a spider bite.  If he had taken better care of the bite in the first place, he might not have gotten so sick.  That's why I am reminding everyone to give those "boo-boos"  some TLC.  New-Skin Products have you covered with Liquid Bandage, Scar Fade, and Poison Ivey Treatment. product-family.png (2 documents, 2 total pages)
No other bandage helps protect your skin better.  New-Skin will cover, protect, and help prevent infection (did you hear that hubby?). New-Skin products have been protecting cuts and scrapes for over a hundred years!  If you have a cut, scrape, or a "boo-boo" that needs protecting, Liquid Bandage has got your back.  If your last hike or camping trip, left you with Poison Ivey itch, then grab New-Skin's Poison Ivey Treatment. If you are like me and have some stubborn scars (count them 12 biopsies from skin cancer scares), you will need to grab some Scar Fade.
logo-landing-page.png

So hurry up and enter.
So what four day adventure would you choose to win?  To enter just fill out the entry form at the New Skin Share the Outdoors Sweepstakes link found hereNew-Skin sweepstakes.  Once you do, you will want to have your friends and family visit your page, to earn up to 5 possible votes a day. Root Beer Chocolate Butter Cake and Giveaway Reminder

Chocolate and Christmas time, go hand in hand for me.  Inspired by Pinterest, we made some festive "Reinbeer", but instead of using beer, we used IBC Diet Root Beer. Then I got to thinking how root beer and chocolate would make a great combination.  Thus my Root Beer Chocolate Butter Cake was born.  This cake is so easy, you hardly need a recipe for it.

Pine Cone Turkeys For Thanksgiving
